About the Department:
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was started in the year 2008 along with the inception of the Institute. It has 60 intake capacity. The department is managed by number of well qualified faculty members having experience in Industry as well as in Research fields. Department of Computer Science & Engineering is having SIX well furnished Computing Labs with LCD projectors. Systems are connected with Internet/Intranet and and Labs are WiFi enabled. Apart from teaching and research, the faculties are also engaged in consultancy projects.
Academic Programs:
Computer Science & Engineering Department of VITAM offers B.Tech in 'Computer Science & Engineering'. The Under Graduate (B.Tech) course is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha, and is approved by AICTE.
Research Areas:
Department of CSE is actively engaged in research activities and publications. Presently, some of the broader research areas of the department are: 1. Data and Web Mining 2. Cloud Computing 3. Image Processing 4. Internet and Web Technologies
Labs and Equipment :
Department is presently maintaining SIX Computing Labs providing services to all other Departments and Placement Cell for computer related activities, online examinations, programming and designing and computer based research activities. Labs are equipped with projectors and computer are LAN-connected. Presently, Department is having 210+ hi-configuration systems distributed over SIX Labs, installed with Compilers, Database tools, CAD and other required tools and software. Department of CSE is partially responsible in providing Internet and Intranet services. Department is maintaining the LAN and other network connectives through wireless/wired connectivity, by acquiring 30 MBPS Leased line from BSNL and Relience. Further, the services are supported by 10 Numbers D-link Layer-2 managed switches, 17 Numbers DAX Layer-2 managed switches, 8 Numbers of 10 KVA online UPS and 60 KVA online UPS.
Beyond Academics:
VITAM believes in all round development. With this motto, Computer Science & Engineering department is actively organizing and participating in events related to Technological Awareness, Technical Competitions and Cultural Activities. The students of the department, with help and association from faculties, had formed a club which is active in organizing workshops for creating general awareness in technological development and conducts classes to share and discuss on the latest trends in the dynamic field of Information Technology. The department has tradition to organize inter-departmental workshops, symposiums and cultural activities.
Students of this department had also brought many laurels and certificates from International and National Conferences and Paper presentation events held in reputed Institutes and Organization, located in different parts of India.
